Darren D. Dickerson serves as a senior publicist for Tobin & Associates and Panther PR.  He is also founder of DSD Publicity, a boutique firm focused on leveraging entertainment, fashion and sports to raise awareness of products, goods and services targeted to diverse consumer groups and age demographics.

Tobin & Associates, the venerable company founded by public relations icon Patricia “Pat” Tobin, is a full service agency with corporate, political, community and entertainment clients; while Panther PR focuses primarily on entertainment.

Representing clients that includes Chandra Wilson (Grey’s Anatomy), James Pickens (Grey’s Anatomy), Christen Clemenson (CSI), Toyota Motor Sales, Nestle, Sony Pictures Television, Hallmark Channel, Fitzgerald’s Casino, and the National Newspaper Publisher’s Association, to list only a few, Dickerson covers every aspect of public relations.

Dickerson is responsible for securing event planning, media relations and marketing contracts with AT&T, Universal Pictures, Sony, the NFL, Virgin Records, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, and the North Carolina Department of Health to list only a few.  He has successfully placed media relations clients on the cover of TV Guide and Essence Magazine’s commemorative edition The 40 Most Inspiring African American; secured feature stories on Oprah, Dateline, Good Morning America and 20/20; negotiated guest appearances on MTV, BET, VH1 and Nickelodeon programming; coordinated print media and radio press tours in over 20 markets.

DSD gained national prominence in 1999 when the firm entered the fight against the spread of HIV and AIDS.  Representing activists Patricia and Hydeia Broadbent, DSD developed or managed awareness events with the Elizabeth Glazier Foundation, Kaiser Family Foundation, Magic Johnson Foundation, and the National Institute of Health.

Dickerson began his career as an artist manager and event promoter.  He has successfully hosted events at NBA All-Star Weekend, the Super Bowl, Magic Convention and for the Primetime Emmy Awards.  He earned a bachelor’s degree in public relations from the California State University, Northridge.  Dickerson resides in Los Angeles, California.
